Outdoor Program Instructor

Full-time, Seasonal, February to Mid-November
Location: Outdoor Education Camp, Portola, CA

Outdoor Program Instructors lead engaging, inclusive outdoor education and camp experiences for youth and community partners. Instructors facilitate hands-on science, outdoor recreation, leadership, and social-emotional learning programs that encourage critical thinking, collaboration, exploration, and environmental stewardship.

Instructors work with a diverse range of participants, including school groups, youth from under-resourced communities, community organizations, and participants with disabilities. Responsibilities may include leading outdoor science lessons and group activities, facilitating challenge course and recreation programs, supporting overnight and summer camp experiences, leading meals and evening activities, and adapting programs to meet the needs of individual participants and groups.

Programs are grounded in hands-on learning and collaborative problem-solving. Instructors are trained in Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)-aligned instruction and University of California, Berkeley’s BEETLES environmental education teaching practices.

This seasonal position offers opportunities to develop leadership, teaching, facilitation, and outdoor education skills while helping create meaningful experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, connection, and stewardship.
